My Art

Meant to be "transformable art" ,
I encourage the viewer to display the paintings in any way that is meaningful to them. It is designed so that the picture plane can be flipped in any direction.

Currently, I am taking photographs and manipulating them into mixed media pieces- and I'm taking a break from canvas paintings unless I am commissioned. I feel another evolution on its way and will return to larger acrylic works soon- just want to wrap my head around the immediacy of snapshots and embracing the image.

My Experience
After receiving a scholarship to attend the Columbus College of Art and Design in Ohio, I was awarded a BFA in Painting and Art Therapy in 1996. Since then I have had many commissions and solo exhibitions in the US. While serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Lesotho, Southern Africa , I created a sixty foot mural permanently displayed at a major tourist center.

In 2007, I started an organization called Art/Engage LLC which provides art appreciation programs for adults with cognitive disabilities, especially seniors with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Currently, my contractors and I work in group homes in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. The website is www.artengage.org. Outside of work, I paint commissions upon request.
